Volkswagen released the first sketches of the CrossBlue Coupe Concept, which is going to have its world debut in Shanghai at the end of this week. The new CrossBlue Concept actually previews the future Volkswagen Tiguan Coupe. This is the second CrossBlue concept revealed by Volkswagen, after the seven-seat version that had its debut back in January. The VW CrossBlue Coupe measures 4,890 mm in length, 2,020 mm in width and it has a 2,980 mm long wheelbase. With the CrossBlue Coupe Volkswagen wants to create an SUV that combines the dynamics of a sports car with the economy of a small car. The Volkswagen CrossBlue coupe is powered by a V6 engine, which is equipped with turbocharging and direct injection, and two electric motors.

Our sources say that the CrossBlue coupe has an output of 415 hp and that it can accelerate from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.9 seconds. At the same time, the CrossBlue coupe promises to offer a fuel consumption of just 3 liters / 100 km. It has an electric only range of up to 33 km.

The production version of the new CrossBlue concept, which will be the VW Tiguan Coupe, will probably be equipped with conventional four- and six-cylinder engines.

We'll have more details regarding the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe concept as soon as they're available.
