Volkswagen revealed over the weekend of the new CrossBlue Coupe, which is a high-tech plug-in hybrid SUV. The Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is powered by a turbocharged V6 TSI engine, equipped with direct injection and two electric motors. VW says that the total output of the CrossBlue Coupe is 305 kW / 415 PS. The VW CrossBlue Coupe's V6 engine develops 500 Nm (368 lbs. ft) from just 1,800 rpm, while the two electric motors output 180 Nm (133 lbs. ft) at the front and 270 Nm (199 lbs. ft) at the rear. This means that the SUV has a total torque output of 700 Nm (516 lbs. ft). This is more than the Lamborghini Aventador. With this powertrain the VW CrossBlue is able to accelerate from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 236 km/h.

Even though it offers serious performance for an SUV, the CrossBlue Coupe is highly efficient. Volkswagen rates it with a fuel consumption of just 3.0 l/100 km or 94.1 mpg. Even with its battery depleted and running with the V6 petrol engine only, the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe offers a fuel economy of 6.9 l/100 km (40.9 mpg). With an 80-litre fuel tank, the CrossBlue Coupe has a range of up to 1,190 km (740 miles). VW rates the CrossBlue coupe with an electric-only range of up to 33 kilometers/20 miles (at a maximum speed of 120 km/h). The CrossBlue Coupe comes equipped with a 6-speed DSG transmission. The Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe can be operated in several modes, including Coasting, Battery regeneration, Boosting, Off-road and TSI only.

The Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe measures 4,889 mm in length, 2,015 mm in width and just 1,679 mm in height. It has a 2,980 mm wheelbase and 22-inch alloys. The concept comes with LED lights all-around, a 12.3 inch cockpit display (Programmable instrument cluster), and a 10.1 inch central info display. The Volkswagen CrossBlue has a 537-litre boot that can be increased to 1,101 litres by folding down the rear seats.
