Volvo revealed recently the new Coupe Concept that's scheduled to have its world debut next week at the 2013 Frankfurt motor show. The Volvo Coupe is just the first of a series of three concepts that aims to showcase future design languages for the Swedish car manufacturer. The Volvo Coupe Concept shows the possibilities of the company's new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). One of the first Volvos to display design elements premiered by the new Coupe Concept is going to be the 2014 XC90. The Volvo Coupe Concept is a plug-in hybrid vehicle, which is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged internal combustion petrol engine, called the Drive-E. The Volvo Coupe's innovative powertrain also include and electric motor and it has a total output of 400 hp and 600 Nm of torque.

Some of the Volvo Coupe's distinctive design features include a long and low bonnet and roof line, and its 5-spoke, 21-inch wheels. The Volvo's new concept is also fitted with T-shaped LED daytime running lights, and a few styling elements inspired by the P1800 from the 1960s.

For the interior of the new Coupe, Volvo uses a leather instrument panel with inlays made of naturally aged wood, woven carpets, and various handcrafted crystal elements. The Volvo Coupe's center console incorporates a large portrait touch-screen that works together with an adaptive digital display and a head-up display.
