Volvo unveiled today at the Shanghai Auto Show their new Universe design concept. The Volvo Universe previews a larger, four-door, four-seat luxury sedan that tries to get away from the company's trademark square design. Volvo says the Universe concept was styled following the lines of Scandinavian Design, and that it addresses customers with exquisite tastes.
Being a design concept, Volvo did not release many technical details regarding the Universe. However, they did mention a few interesting features of the Volvo Universe. For example, the touch-screen approaches the driver's hand as the tries to reach towards it. Volvo also took special care so that the Universe Concept will offer the most comfortable seats possible.
Volvo says they're looking forward to analyzing the impact of the Universe concept on the Chinese customers. This means that the Universe might be Volvo's future new production model. The Universe concept will also be displayed in Europe and in the USA at various shows.
In terms of design, we have to admit the Volvo Universe is quite the looker and it's nice too see a bit of rounded edges for a change. We're not so sure about that front end though.
