Volvo released today the first images and details of the new XC coupe concept, which is set to debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) on January 13th. The Volvo XC concept is built upon the carmaker's new Scalable Platform Architecture, which is going to be the base of all their future medium and large cars. The Volvo XC aims to incorporate the brand's famous safety technology into the contemporary Scandinavian active lifestyle. Volvo is going to revealed all the details and images of the XC coupe on January 8th. Judging from the images, the Volvo XC is going to look more like a crossover or all-terrain two-door coupe, rather than a classic coupe. Its ground clearance seems to be a bit too high for a regular coupe.

The Volvo XC Coupe is the second concept from a series of three, which aims to redefine the carmaker's design language. This has not been confirmed at the moment, but Volvo might put the XC coupe into production at some point in the future.
