Volvo revealed today the production version of the S60 Polestar, which, unfortunately, is a lot less powerful than the concept they announced last summer. When they first announced the Polestar Volvo S60, it had T6 engine developing 508 hp and 575Nm of torque. The concept of the Polestar S60 required just 3.9 seconds for getting from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h). The production version of the S60 Polestar continues to be powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged T6 engine, but it develop just 257kw (350bhp) at 5,700 rpm and 500+ Nm of torque between 2,800 rpm and 4,750 rpm. With 158 hp and around 70 Nm less than the concept, the production S60 Polestar needs a full second more to get from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h). Its top speed is limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).

The concept was rated with a top speed of more than 300 km/h. Well, it looks like we got our hopes up for nothing last year, when we first got word of the S60 Polestar. Back then, it was looking like a really promising vehicle. Now it's another Volvo with a bit more power. The standard S60 develops 304 hp, so the Polestar has about 46 hp more.

However, the Volvo S60 Polestar does have a few modifications that might improve its handling, like Ohlins dampers, bigger brakes, and a re-tuned chassis. There's also a new body kit that includes a front splitter, a rear wing and a rear diffuser.



To get the extra 46 hp, Polestar fitted the Volvo S60 with a bigger Borg Warner turbo, a new intercooler and reprogrammed its ECU. The Polestar S60 keeps the car's Haldex AWD system and its 6-speed automatic transmission. Volvo says that Polestar retuned the S60's 4WD system and gearbox.

The Volvo S60 Polestar's price and availability are going to be announced at a later date.
