The Audi RS5 has been on the market for less than two years and the Ingolstadt manufacturer has already revealed its facelifted version. The 2012 Audi RS5 facelift has its world premiere these days at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show. It features several new styling updates, and some technical upgrades. The facelifted RS5 comes with a new front grille, re-designed LED headlights (reconfigured LEDs), a slightly modified front apron, new wheels and a re-styled rear diffuser.
The 2012 Audi RS5 continues to be powered by the 4,163 cc 4.2 FSI V10 engine, which is good for 331 kW (450 hp) at 8,250 rpm and 430 Nm (317.15 lb-ft) of torque from 4,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm. This means it also keeps the 108.1 hp per liter specific output.
In terms of performance, the RS5 facelift is able to get from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds. Audi has increased the top speed of the 2012 RS5 facelift from 250 to 280 km/h (155.34 to 173.98 mph). The 2012 Rs5 facelift comes with the usual seven-speed S tronic transmission and the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The center differential has a 40:60 ratio biased towards the rear.
Audi's 2012 RS5 facelift sits 20 millimeters (0.79 in) lower than the regular A5 and comes equipped
with 19-inch forged aluminum wheels or, optionally, with 20-nich ones. Its brake discs measure 365 millimeters (14.37 in) and are also available in carbon-ceramic.
Some of the distinctive features of the 2012 RS5 facelift include the LED strips in the headlights, a larger rear diffuser and the rear hatch spoiler, which extends automatically at speeds of over 120 km/h (74.56 mph).
Audi offers various options for the interior of the RS5 facelift, together with a carbon design package for the engine compartment,
cruise control, Audi side assist, adaptive light, MMI navigation plus, Bluetooth and the Bang & Olufsen sound system.
