Mercedes released today the full details of the new generation 2012 B Class, together with a teaser image of the new version. Mercedes announced that it will premiere the 2012 B Class at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September, before putting it on sale in November. the price list of the 2012 Mercedes B Class will be announced at a later date. The 2012 Mercedes B Class comes with new petrol and diesel engines, improved aerodynamics and new interior and exterior styling.

The engine line-up of the 2012 B Class includes the B180, which is powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline unit, developing 90 kW (122 hp) and 200 Nm of torque, and the B200, which is powered by a 2.0-liter engine with an output of 115 kW (156 hp) and 250 Nm of torque at 1250 rpm.

The diesel range of the 2012 Mercedes B Class includes a new 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine equipped with a third generation common rail direct-injection system, which will be sold in two power levels. The 2012 Mercedes B180 CDI outputs 80 kW (109 hp) and 250 Nm of torque from 1400 rpm. The 2012 Mercedes B200 CDI delivers 100 kW (136 hp) and 300 Nm of torque from 1600 rpm.

Mercedes is offering two gearbox options for the 2012 B Class. They include a new 6-speed manual and the new 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission.



As it's usually the case with Mercedes, the 2012 B Class features loads of equipment, including a radar-based collision warning system, called COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, which comes with adaptive Brake Assist, Adaptive Headlamp Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, a Hill Hold function and several other safety systems.

Mercedes is very proud about the aerodynamics of the 2012 Mercedes B Class, which has a drag coefficient of cd = 0.26. This puts the new B Class at the forefront of its market segment. Better aerodynamics means a lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Even though Mercedes will offer the 2012 B Class with traditional petrol and diesel engines, they've announced that the new version is prepared for alternative drives. This means we might see a hybrid version of the 2012 B Class, or even an electric one.
