Mercedes AMG released today a teaser video of their 2012 DTM race car, which will be based on the coupe version of the C Class. Featuring the now famous chromed livery, the 2012 Mercedes C Coupe AMG DTM will have wider wheel arches than the current racer, and a huge rear wing for increased downforce on the rear axle. Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg will reveal Merc's 2012 DTM racer at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show, on September 13th, 2011. Unfortunately at this time, Mercedes did not disclose any details regarding the 2012 C Class Coupe DTM.
The 2012 DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters), the German touring car championship, will be the stage of an interesting battle next year. Merc's C class coupe racer will have to face quite
a competition, which will include Audi's A5 and BMW's M3. Very little is known about both these cars. The BMW M3 DTM has a 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of 3 seconds and a top speed of more than 300 km/h. The Audi A5 DTM develops 460 hp and has a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The Ingolstadt manufacturer did not disclose its performance figures.
