The Scion FR-S / Toyota GT86 / Subaru BRZ is now completed by the launch of the third version of the car. Just as the Toyota and the Subaru, the Scion FR-S is powered by 2.0 liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, which is good for 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. The FR-S will also be available with two transmission choices (6-speed manual and automatic) and it will benefit from the D-4S direct and port injection technology. The Scion FR-S has a 53 to 47 front-to-rear weight ratio, which means it will pretty good handling characteristics.
Frankly there aren't that many differences between the Scion FR-S and the Toyota GT 86. The only ones we could spot are the headlights, which seem to have integrated LEDs in the case of the GT86.
The FR-S lacks the fog lights seen in the front bumper of the GT86, and it has different color indicators. The FR-S also has different rims.
At the interior, the Scion FR-S features different air conditioning dials on the center console and a CD/radio combo instead of the satellite navigation unit of the GT86. Oh yes, the FR-S also has a different logo on the steering wheel.
It would be really interesting to find out what would determine a consumer to choose one over the other. Maybe it will be the price. Who knows? Watch the Scion FR-S in action in the video below.
