General motors revealed today the updated 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD and its sibling, the 2015 GMC Sierra Denali HD. As standard, the 2015 GMC Sierra comes with a Vortec 6.0-liter V8 engine that's good for 360 hp (268 kW) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque in the 2500HD versions and for 322 hp (240 kW) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque in the 3500HD models. The new 2015 GMC Sierra's engine is mated to a 6L90 6-speed automatic gearbox. This V8 engine is also available as a bi-fuel unit. Both, the 2015 Silverado and the 2015 GMC Sierra are also going to be sold with a Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engine that develops 397 hp (296 kW) at 3,000 rpm and a massive 765 lb-ft (1,037 Nm)of torque at 1,600 rpm. The diesel versions of both pick-up trucks is equipped with a high-pressure (30,000 psi/2,000 bar) Piezo-actuated fuel system.
The diesel engine comes with the Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission.
GM says that the 2015 Silverado and the new GMC Sierra (2015) have a convention trailering rating of 19,600 pounds and a maximum payload of 7,374 pounds. Some of the key new features of the 2015 Silverado and Sierra HD include a CornerStep rear bumper, an EZ Lift and Lower tailgate, standard upper tie-downs, and StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control. Both pick-ups come with integrated cruise control, auto grade braking and diesel exhaust braking (diesel models).
The 2015 GMC Sierra HD comes with a re-designed interior and exterior. For starters, the new GMC Sierra (2015) new headlights, LED DRLs, a power-dome hood, and a new front grille. At the interior, the 2015 Sierra HD features a Bose audio system, heated and cooled leather front bucket seats, a heated steering wheel and a power sliding rear window with defogger.
