The new 2016 Audi R8 has been revealed today. The Ingolstadt carmaker announced its price, is full specifications and its equipment list, ahead of its debut, which is going to take place at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show next month. The new supercar is going to be available in just two versions, as the 2016 Audi R8 V10 and as the 2016 Audi R8 V10 Plus. Apparently, Audi ditched the V8 version of the R8 for the 2016 model year. The new R8 is also going to be available as an e-tron. The 2016 Audi R8 V10 is powered by the 5.2 TFSI engine that develops 540 hp and 540 Nm of torque. This "base" version of the 2016 R8 accelerates from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h). The 2016 R8 V10 Plus is powered by the same engine, but it outputs 610 hp and 560 Nm of torque.
The 2016 R8 Plus can get from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h). Audi's official specifications say that the 2016 R8 offers a 11.8 liters / 100 km (19.9 mpg US or 23.9 mpg UK) fuel consumption and 275 g/km of CO2 emissions. The same specs say that the 2016 R8 Plus comes with a 12.4 liters / 100 km (18.9 mpg US or 22.7 mpg UK) fuel economy and 289 g/km of CO2 emissions. Both engine are mated to the Quattro AWD system through the 7-speed S-tronic transmission.
Thanks to various improvements, the 2016 R8 is 50 kg lighter than its predecessor. The top of the range 2016 R8 Plus has a dry weight of 1,454 kg (3,205.5 lb).
