2016 Ford GT Le Mans Revealed

 »  »  »

Ford has just revealed their GT racer for the 2016 Le Mans. This is truly a historic moment. Back almost 50 years ago, in 1966, the Ford GT took the overall victory at Le Mans, against the likes of Ferrari and Porsche. To mark the 50th anniversary of that moment, the new Ford GT racer is going to compete in the 2016 24-Hour of Le Mans in the LM GTE Pro class. The 2016 Ford GT will also race in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, with two teams and four cars. The 2016 Ford GT Le Mans is powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that delivers an unmentioned amount of horsepower and torque. It features highly optimized aerodynamics and a body and chassis made of carbon fiber and other composite materials.

Ford did not disclose a lot of technical specs about their 2016 Le Mans GT racer, as you can expect. However, they do leave a feeling they are prepared to win.

We will have more details about the 2016 Le Mans Ford GT race car as soon as the Blue Oval makes them available. Meanwhile, watch their promo clip lower down this page.
