Galpin Auto Sports revealed at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance the new GTR1 prototype, which is based on the latest generation of the Ford GT. The Galpin GTR1 is powered by a 5.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that's able to send 1,024 hp and 739 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque to the supercar's rear wheels. Galpin says that on paper, the GTR1 is able to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3 seconds and to reach a top speed of 225 mph. Galpin's official specs of the GTR1 say that the new supercar is able to get from nought to 100 mph in around 6.5 seconds. In comparison to the Ford GT, the Galpin GTR1 comes with a completely re-designed aluminum body, which was developed by Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters. Reportedly, the Galpin GTR1's body took 12,000 man hours to complete.

Galpin is looking to offer the GTR1 with an optional carbon fiber body.

The Galpin GTR1 comes equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, Brembo six-piston calipers, 20-inch forged aluminum knock-off wheels and Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires. The GTR1 is also fitted with re-styled headlights and rear light clusters, as well as various carbon fiber trim parts.

For the interior of the GTR1, Galpin chose a McIntosh sound system, an aluminum instrument cluster and a new upholstery made of blue Sateen Marine leather.

The Galpin GTR1's price has not been announced yet, but the carmaker says they will only build between six and 24 of them. The GTR1's is scheduled to go into production next year.
