Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) announced today that they started working on a new project called the GTR-1, which is based on the new generation Ford GT. The Galpin GTR-1 is going to be longer than the standard Ford GT. Each unit will have a personalized interior, built following the specifications of its owner. So far, Galpin did not disclose what engine they're going to use for the GTR-1. However, they do mention that it will have an output of around 1,000 hp, which means that the new supercar will go on sale same market segment as the Bugatti Veyron. Let's hope it won't cost as much though. Galpin says that each customer will be able to choose to have their GTR-1 built with aluminum or a carbon fiber body.
Apart from the monster engine, Galpin will probably upgrade the suspension, chassis and brakes of the Ford GT in order for it to be able to handle all the extra horsepowers.
