Some of today's rumors say the German company is planning to develop an Audi R8 LMS based road car which will be shown towards the end of this year. The 'Superleggera' Audi R8 LMS road car will feature a number of carbon fiber body parts that will reduce the weight of the standard R8 considerably. Other methods of weight reduction are also to be expected. The new Audi R8 LMS road car will most probably be powered by a tweaked version of the 5.2-liter V10 engine that will get close to the unit in the Gallardo LP570-4. If this is the case, it means the Audi R8 LMS road car will deliver around 570 hp and 540 Nm. This, combined with a lower weight, will definitely result in amazing levels of performance.
The Audi R8 LMS road car will probably feature a
new aerodynamics package, improved suspension and bigger brakes to cope with the increased performance.
