The British press has leaked the initial Audi R8 RS info. Yes, according to them and some recent spy images, the Ingolstadt carmaker is planning an even hotter version of their supercar. Apparently, the Audi R8 RS will have the 5.2-litre V10 engine from the R8 GT that will be supped up to more than 600 hp. Apart from having mountains of power, the Audi R8 RS will also undergo a weight saving program.
The Audi R8 RS was caught on camera outside the Nurburgring race track in Germany, while it was taking some time out at a gas station. The Audi R8 RS prototype is wearing a motorsport livery and has some discreet aerodynamic tweaks. The Audi R8 RS has a new carbon fiber front lip, new side skirts, a new rear diffuser and two exhaust
pipes coming out of the rear grille. The Audi R8 RS also seems to have a plastic engine cover and the same air intakes as the LMS racing version of the R8.
If this is in fact the Audi R8 RS, it will have brakes the size of the moon and a stiffer suspension for even better handling.
The spy photographers even managed to take a look inside the Audi R8 RS and observed the stripped
out interior. The Recaro bucket seats are there.
The British press is also speculating that the Audi R8 RS will be just rear-wheel-drive and will lack the company's quattro AWD system. This will make it lose some serious weight. At least 100 kg. However, if this is an RS model, it will probably have the quattro, as all the other, high performance, RS versions of the company's models.
