After yesterdays leaked, BMW spilled the beans today on the new 3 Series GT (Gran Turismo). The BMW 3 Series GT promises to offer the sporty dynamics of the sedan version of the model, and at the same time to provide the versatility of the Touring version. BMW's GT 3 Series comes with a longer and taller body, and a longer wheelbase. This increases the interior space for the passengers, as well as the 3 Series luggage capacity. The large tailgate of the 3 Series GT can be opened and closed automatically. The car is fitted with an active rear spoiler that's able to reduce lift on the rear axle at high speeds. In comparison to the regular 3 Series, the GT is 200 mm longer, 81 mm taller and it has a 110 mm longer wheelbase. This offers 70 mm of extra room and 520 liters of boot space.
The BMW 3 Series GT comes with 40:20:40 split/folding rear seats, and LED strips that illuminate the cargo area.
BMW is going to offer the 3 Series GT with a choice between three petrol engines and two diesel ones, with outputs ranging from 143 hp to 305 hp in the 335i GT. The 3 Series GT comes with a Start/Stop function and a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional eight-speed automatic.
