BMW revealed at this week the new S 1000 R, which is derived from the S 1000 RR superbike and uses the same innovative technology. The new BMW S 1000 R naked bike closely resembles the RR, however it comes with a much simpler design. The BMW S 1000 R, which weighs 207 kg (456 lbs.), is powered by a derived version of the 999 cc four-cylinder in-line engine used in the RR bike. BMW's S 1000 R is rated with an output of 118 kW (160 hp) at 11,000 rpm and 112 Nm (approx. 83 lb-ft) of torque at 9,250 rpm. The S 1000 R is equipped with ASC (Automatic Stability Control), Race ABS and a choice of two riding modes as standard. The S 1000 R also offers the Pro riding mode with two additional options and an optional DTC. Other options offered by BMW for the S 1000 R include Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) and the HP Gear Shift Assistant.

Some of the highlights of the BMW S 1000 R include its aggressive minimal styling, full synchronization of Race ABS, ASC/ DTC, DDC and engine management, an innovative exhaust system and a suspension with large damping reserves. Here you can find the full details and specifications of the BMW S 1000 R. The price of the new bike is going to be announced at a later date.
