Cadillac ATS Teaser

Today is teaser image day, as Cadillac launched theirs announcing the new compact luxury sedan. ATS is in fact a codename, so the actual production vehicle might get a different name. Cadillac will build the ATS at their Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. This is where they are currently assembling the CTS sedan, coupe and wagon. The Cadillac ATS means a $190 million investment and 600 new jobs.

Cadillac says that the new ATS will be a "driver's car", which will be available with both a RWD system and an all-wheel-drive system. What we know so far regarding the Cadillac ATS, is that it will have a shorter wheelbase than the CTS, and that it will be built on the same chassis as the future generation Camaro and CTS.

There are also various rumors that say a performance oriented Cadillac ATS-V version is also on its way. It will be powered by a 6162 cc engine with an output of 480 hp and 590 Nm of torque.

The ATS model range will be Cadillac's answer to BMW's 3 Series. Of course, the ATS-V might go against the legendary M3, but these are speculations at the moment.

Cadillac is expected to launch the ATS model range in 2012, with the ATS-V coming next year, or in 2013.
