Cadillac released today a teaser image of the ELR and announced that the new model is going to have its world debut at the 2013 NAIAS (North American International Auto Show). The Cadillac ELR, which is based on the Converj concept, will be premiered on January 15th, 2013. At this point, GM did not disclose the date on which it will go on sale. The Cadillac ELR will be powered by an electric motor, which will work together with a four-cylinder internal combustion engine used as a generator and a T-shaped lithium-ion battery. The Cadillac ELR is going to run primarily on electricity, without having any tailpipe emissions. When the juice from the battery is about to run out, the ELR will start its generator engine to produce some more.

The Cadillac ELR will go into production towards the end of next year. This means we should expect it on the market sometime in 2014. We'll have more details regarding the Cadillac ELR as soon as they're available.
