Cadillac ELR Announced

 »  »  »

Cadillac announced today that the production version of the Converj concept from back in 2009, will be called the ELR, which will be a luxury, premium coupe, powered by an electric drivetrain. Even though Cadillac is moving forward with the production of the ELR, the specifications and technical details of the new model have not been revealed yet. However, Cadillac does mention that the ELR will have a T-shaped lithium ion battery, which will power an electric motor. The ELR Caddy will also have a four-cylinder combustion engine, which will be used as a generator for extending the range of the batteries. About the range of the ELR, Cadillac did not release any details.

Cadillac names the ELR "a personal luxury 2+2" and a "grand touring coupe".

This usually means that you shouldn't expect to have a lot of room for the rear seat passengers. However, it does mean that it will offer comfort for long journeys.

We'll have more details on the Cadillac ELR as soon as General Motors makes them available.
