The 2013 Cadillac XTS was unveiled today at the 2011 LA Auto Show and GM says it will go on sale in the spring of 2012. GM's Cadillac XTS is a new luxury 4-door sedan, measuring 202 / 5131 (in / mm) in length, 72.9 / 1851 (in / mm) in width and 59.1 / 1501 (in / mm) in height. The Cadillac XTS will be available with both a front-wheel-drive and an all-wheel-drive system. It will be powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 VVT DI engine with an output of 300 hp / 224 kW at 6800 rpm and 264 lb.-ft. / 358 Nm of torque at 5300 rpm. The Cadillac XTS will send its power to the wheels via a Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission. So far, there's no word on a manual gearbox for the 2013 XTS.
The Cadillac XTS is equipped with the brand's new, Apple-like, CUE interface, featuring eight-inch (203 mm) screen, steering wheel controls, capacitive-touch control with proximity sensing, gesture recognition and natural voice recognition. Optionally, Cadillac's XTS will also be available with a 12.3-inch (312 mm) screen for the center console.
The AWD Cadillac XTS is equipped with a Advanced Haldex all-wheel-drive system with electronically controlled limited-slip diff.
All versions of the XTS will feature a HiPer Strut front suspension, and a Magnetic Ride Control rear air suspension. Brembo brakes are standard.
The safety systems of the XTS Cadillac include:
- Safety Alert Seat
- Intervening braking system
- Short- and long-range radar systems for the, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front and Rear Automatic Brakes and the Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The Cadillac XTS will also be available with two Enhanced Safety Strategy (ESS) packages:
ESS I includes:
- Lane Departure Warning
- Forward Collision Alert
- Safety Alert Seat
- Side Blind Zone Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Reflected LED display.
ESS II includes all ESS I content plus:
- Head-up display (in color)
- Front and Rear Automatic Brake
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Automatic Collision Preparation
