The Cadillac ATS was revealed these days at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, before going on sale in the second half of 2012. Measuring 182.8 inches in length, 55.9 inches in height, and 71.1 inches in width, the Cadillac ATS is a compact four-door sedan, which aims to rival the 2012 BMW 3 Series. In terms of engine, the Cadillac ATS will be sold with a choice between three units: a 2.0L Turbo developing 270 hp and 353 Nm of torque, a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder with an output of 200 hp and 255 Nm and a 5.6-liter V6, which is good for 320 hp and 363 Nm of torque. Cadillac will sell the ATS with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, and with rear-wheel-drive as standard. Optionally, the ATS will also be available with an all-wheel-drive system.

One of the highlights of the Cadillac ATS is its Apple iPhone-like interface, called the Cadillac CUE. This new interface promises a totally different in-car experience, together with increased functionality and usability.

With a reasonable weight of 3,400 pounds (1,542 kg), and a modern suspension, the Cadillac ATS will offer improved handling and fuel efficiency as well as increased safety. The ATS is equipped with a multi-link double-pivot MacPherson-strut front suspension with a direct-acting stabilizer bar and a driver-adjustable FE3 sport suspension with Magnetic Ride Control real-time damping.

Cadillac offers Brembo brakes for the ATS, and a four-channel ABS system.

The safety systems of the Cadillac ATS include Intelligent Brake Assist, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Side Blind Zone Alert, to name but a few.
