Chevrolet revealed at this year's North American International Auto Show the new Corvette C7.R race car. The Chevrolet Corvette C7.R is going to have its racing debut on January 25th at the 52nd Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Chevrolet Corvette C7.R is based on the new 2015 Corvette Z06 and it will compete in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the American Le Mans Series and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series. The Corvette C7.R is built on an aluminum frame chassis, that's 40% stronger than the one of the outgoing C6.R. The new chassis of the C7.R Corvette is built using the aluminum spot-welding process. The Corvette C7.R's engine comes from the C6.R, and it features direct injection. This improves fuel efficiency by 3%.

In terms of aerodynamics, the Chevy Corvette C7.R features a forward-tilted radiator, a functional hood and front-quarter panel vents, rear transmission and differential cooling intakes, new front splitters, rocker panels, and front- and rear-brake cooling ducts. The C7.R is also equipped with a sport suspension, wider racing tires and larger brakes.
