The Dutch carmakers from Donkervoort revealed today their latest model, which is called simply the "GTO". The development of the new Donkervoort GTO stretched over the last two and a half years, and involved Audi Quattro GmbH. The Donkervoort GTO is powered by the 2.5 TFSI Audi engine, which is available in several power output levels. Donkervoort's version of the 2.5 TFSI engine is 30 kg lighter than the standard Audi variant, and outputs between 340 hp and 400 hp. The Donkervoort GTO's torque output is rated at 450 Nm from 1600 rpm. The Donkervoort GTO is reasonably powerful, but its party piece is not the engine. The car weighs just 700 kg, which means it's one of the fastest sports cars on the European market today.

In comparison to its predecessors, the GT and the D8 270RS, the GTO is larger, which means you get some extra interior space. Donkervoort built the GTO on a steel tubular frame and covered it with carbon composite panels. The GTO comes with an innovation ion terms of safety. Its doors, which are made from carbon and weigh 980 grams each, can withstand a sideways blow of about 1500 kg. The GTO also comes with an updated anti-roll bar and rear axle, which help increase the stability of the car.

Donkervoort equips the GTO with a special module, which, at a push of a button, increases the output of the car from the standard 340 hp, to 400 hp.

The Donkervoort GTO price starts at €100,000 EUR and can go as high as €150,000 EUR, depending on the various optional extras you may choose. Donkervoort will put the GTO into production next year, and it will start delivering it from 2013.
