Donkervoort D8 GT into production

The Dutch manufacturer announced that their latest project, the Donkervoort D8 GT goes into production. The Donkervoort D8 GT was premiered at the 2007 Geneva auto show and after the year the prototype reached the production ready phase with the first unit reaching its owner in August.

The Donkervoort D8 GT had its first tests in 2004 and in 2005 it was already setting some impressive times on the Nurburgring race track. With the information gained through these tests and on the base of the open-top D8 the Dutch developed the D8 GT hard-top which now has wing-doors.

The aerodynamics of the Donkervoort D8 GT feature integrated headlamps and larger air intakes.

The wheel base is 8 cm wider than the one of the current D8.

The Donkervoort D8 GT is equipped with specially developed Tarox brakes and sits on 17" light weight wheels.

The carbon fiber roof and doors of the D8 GT reduce the weight to 650 kg, which also accounts for less CO2 emissions.
