2012 Dagger GT

TranStar Racing, the manufacturers of the 2,000 hp Dagger GT, sent as an email this morning announcing that they have updated their hypercar for the 2012 model year. The 2012 Dagger GT-D, D coming from dragster, now outputs 3000 hp! No, that's not a misspelling. Called the Outlaw, TranStar's Pro Mod dragster is expected to hit the 250 mph mark in the quarter mile run, and to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 1 second. TranStar Racing is expecting that the new Dagger GT will be faster than the Nissan Project Zed Car, which is able to get from 0 to 60 mph 1.2 seconds. The Dagger GT-D will have a Pro Mod dragster rear end and a Mendeola transaxle. The Dagger GT-D is not street legal, obviously.

The land speed record version of the hypercar,

called the Dagger GT-LS now develops 2,700 hp (on racing fuel). TranStar is taking it to the Bonneville Salt Flats, where they hope it will hit a top speed of 315 mph (500 km/h). The company says that they received a few pointers, when developing the Dagger GT-LS, from Ron Main, who drives the Speed Demon streamliner.

The 2012 Dagger GT is built on a carbon fiber frame, with carbon body panels and it's powered by an aluminum engine with twin turbocharging.

Thanks to this light weight design, the Dagger GT-R (the car's road racing version), is expected to weigh just 2000 pounds. To be able to stop such a monster, TranStar equipped it with carbon ceramic brakes.

TranStar is currently planning to build three prototypes of the Dagger GT: an exposed carbon-fiber luxury model, a satin black dragster and the Dagger GT-LS. The Dagger GT price is not yet finalized, but TranStar expects it to be between $750,000 USD and 1 million USD. If you're interested in a test driver, and you are a qualified buyer, TranStar is taking reservations at Palm Beach International Raceway, in Florida.
