Ferrari Blocks New Lancia Stratos Production

Even though the new 2011 Lancia Stratos was developed as a one-off vehicle, its creators decided eventually to produce it in very limited numbers. However, its production is currently blocked by Ferrari. Michael Stoschek developed the new Stratos based on a Ferrari F430 Scuderia chassis, which has received several modifications. Ferrari's boss, Montezemolo, was very pleased with the results and even let some of his engineers give a helping hand in the development of the 2011 Stratos.

The 2011 Lancia Stratos is powered by a 4.3-liter V8 engine, which sends 540hp at 8200 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 3750 rpm to the car's rear wheels.

The latest rumors suggest Ferrari might not be very pleased with the 2011 Stratos going into production. Since they have to supply some of the most important parts for its production, they could very easily block the project.

The 2011 Lancia Stratos is planned for a limited run of 40 units. Pininfarina, the designers of the new version, are also having problems supplying parts for this many cars.

Currently, the people involved in the 2011 Lancia Stratos project are looking for other means of getting the parts they need, but most sources believe the new model will not get into production in the near future.
