Ford revealed at this year’s Frankfurt auto show an electric bike concept called simply, the E-Bike. The Ford E-Bike Concept features and aluminum and carbon frame, with a Giant SLR Carbon 110mm stem, and a Selle Italia SLR XC saddle. Ford says that the frame weighs just 2.5 kg. The E-Bike Concept is powered by a front wheel hub motor with an output of 350W. Ford's E-Bike concept is able to get up to a top speed of 25km/h on electric power only and it comes equipped with a freewheel function clutch, planet gears and Integral sensor technology.

The electric hub motor of Ford's E-Bike is juiced by a 340Wh, 36V, 9.3Ah Lithium-ion battery, which is able to offer a range of up to 85 km. The battery can be re-charged to 80% of its capacity

in 2 hours, and to 100% in 3 to 4 hours. Ford's E-Bike uses Magneotostrictive materials to convert movement in electric energy in vice-versa. This type of materials are also used in Formula 1.

Blue Oval's E-Bike also features a Shimano Alfine 11-speed internal gear hub, a 2012 Shimano Rapidfire shifter and, instead of the classic chain, a Carbon Belt Drive System.

- iPhone Smartphone app control function planned

Currently, Ford did not announce any plans to put the E-Bike concept into production.
