Isuzu revealed this week the MU-X SUV, which is going to be available both as a 4x2 and as a 4x4. The Isuzu MU-X is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel, in-line 4-cylinder, DOHC engine that develops 130 kW at 3600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque between 1,800 rpm and 2,800 rpm. Isuzu is going to sell the MU-X with a choice between a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic transmission. The manual version of the MU-X comes with high torque capacity and output reduction as well as a 265 mm diameter clutch plate. The automatic version of the Isuzu MU-X is equipped with sequential shift and brake shift lock, tri-mode with Adaptive Grade Logic and a fuel-saving lock-up torque converter. The MU-X is also equipped with Hill-ascent and Hill descent control. Both versions of the MU-S are equipped with TCS (Traction Control System) and ESC.

In terms of efficiency, Isuzu rates the MU-X with a fuel economy of 8.2 litres per 100 km.

The equipment list of the MU-X includes a premium audio system with 6 speakers, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 10-inch DVD monitor for rear seat passengers. As far as safety goes, Isuzu equips the MU-X with ABS with EBD, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), and disc brakes. The Isuzu MU-X comes with a third row of seats.
