The MG Icon Concept had its world debut today, offering a glimpse into the carmaker's future. The MG Icon is a small SUV, which was designed in Britain by a team led by Anthony Williams-Kenny. MG did not disclose any technical details regarding the Icon, but from the looks of things, its production version is going to compete with the Nissan Juke. Over the years MG has slipped away from focus point of the automotive industry. The Icon is way they're trying to grab the attention of the consumer. With a modern design, and falling into a market segment, which seems to pickup speed, the MG Icon has everything its needs to generate serious sales.

The MG Icon's design is inspired by the brand's British heritage, which includes the MGA and the MGB GT.

The rear structural lights of the MG Icon for example, are inspired by the MGB GT. The Icon has a four-seat configuration, with foldable rear seats. Even though MG does not mention it, these images hint at the fact that the Icon actually has four doors, instead of the obvious two.

We'll have more information about the MG Icon as soon as it is available.
