Mercedes announced today they have built the first Experimental Safety Vehicle since 1974 - the Mercedes ESF 2009 S400 Hybrid. The Mercedes S400 Hybrid ESF 2009 will be presented between 23 June 2009 and 16th of August in an exhibition in the company's Museum's Fascination of Technology section.

Although the Mercedes ESF 2009 S400 Hybrid looks like an ordinary S Class, it's packed with the latest technology from the German carmaker. Some of the goodies inside the Mercedes ESF 2009 S400 Hybrid include inflatable brakes under the car and in its sides that are activated in case of a crash. The Mercedes ESF 2009 S400 Hybrid also features a number of additional airbags and a system that moves the occupants towards the middle of the car in case of an impact.
