Nissan Juke R Video 5

 »  »  »

If it's Wednesday, it means we get yet another updated on the Nissan Juke-R. Today's video, which is the fifth of the series, presents the process of transferring the gearbox and drivetrain of the GT-R in the Nissan Juke-R (if you're not yet familiar with the Juke-R, you can watch the previous clips in the 'videos' section to the right). When equipping the Juke-R with the transmission of the GT-R, the main challenge was the shorter wheelbase. Juke-R's wheelbase is a full 250 mm shorter. This means that the RML engineers had to re-manufacture both prop shafts. Unfortunately, they couldn’t give the Juke-R carbon fiber prop shafts, like in the ones of the GT-R. Instead, they replaced them with shorter and larger diameter steel ones.

The Nissan Juke-R is said to offer the same gear shifting experience as the GT-R. This means that the high performance crossover will offer the same short shifting time as the supercar it's based on.

RML also mentions that they conducted various stiffness tests on the Juke-R chassis, to see if it will work well under stress. The video also mentions a thing or two about ergonomics and driver's seat fitting.
