Nissan Leaf To Set Speed Record In Reverse

 »  »  »

Nissan announced that it will have a special appearance at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed on 1-3 July. At this year's event, Nissan hopes to make the Leaf the fastest vehicle going in reverse and the Juke the fastest four wheeled vehicle, on two-wheels. The Japanese car manufacturer hopes that the Nissan Leaf will become the fastest car ever to be driven up the famous Hill Climb circuit, backwards.

The Goodwood Hill Climb is one of the most popular races of today. It usually features legendary classic models, which race alongside some of the top supercars of the moment. Somehow, Nissan racing a funky looking electric vehicle, in reverse, doesn't quite fit the picture. Imagine that you're watching the race and, after seeing a

60-year-old classic go by, followed by a Bugatti Veyron, suddenly there goes Nissan with their EV going backwards.

Apart from their Leaf attempt, Nissan is also going to go up the Hill Climb with a Juke, while driving on just two wheels.

The two stunts will be performed, once every day, by Terry Grant, who said "I've experienced Goodwood before but never attempted to set a new record. To have the chance to grab not only one but two records at the same event will hopefully provide everyone with a very entertaining spectacle."
