This new video puts the Nissan Leaf against two possible rivals. Even though they're not powered by electricity like the Leaf, the diesel Volkswagen Golf GTD and the hybrid Lexus CT 200h are two high efficiency alternatives. The Nissan Leaf is a bit on the expensive side in comparison to the two models mentioned before. It's priced at 25,280 USD in the USA and at 23,990 GBP in the UK. Nissan powers the Leaf with an electric motor that's good for 80 kW and 280 Nm of torque. On a full charge of its laminated lithium-ion battery, the Leaf is able to run for up to 160 km / 100 miles, which makes it a short to medium distance vehicle. Of course, the Nissan Leaf has 0 CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

The Volkswagen Golf GTD is powered by a 2.0 liter

TDI diesel engine developing 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. In terms of efficiency, VW's Golf GTD has a 5.3 liter per 100 km/h fuel consumption on the highway and emits 139 g/km of CO2.

The Lexus CT 200h is a petrol hybrid model, which is powered by a 1.8-litre VVT-i internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The CT 200h develops 98 bhp and 142 Nm of torque with the help of the petrol engine, while the motor provide an additional 79 bhp and 207 Nm of torque. Lexus says that the CT 200h emits 96 g/km of CO2.
