Volkswagen revealed today the new Golf VII GTD, which is going to be premiered at the beginning of next month at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. As you probably know, the GTD is the high-performance version of the VW Golf's diesel model range. The seventh generation Golf GTD is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TDI turbodiesel engine that develops 135 kW / 184 PS between 3,500 rpm and 4,000 rpm and 380 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 3,250 rpm. With this engine, the Volkswagen Golf VII GTD is able to accelerate from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.5 seconds and to reach a top speed of 142 mph (230 km/h). Volkswagen is going to sell the Golf GTD VII with front-wheel-drive and with a choice between a 6-speed manual gearbox and the 6-speed DSG transmission.

VW rates the manual version of the Golf 7 GTD with a fuel economy of 67.3 mpg (4.2 l/100 km) and a 109 g/km CO2 emissions level. The DSG version of the GTD Golf 7 is rated with a 60.1 mpg (4.7 l/100 km) combined fuel consumption and with 119 g/km CO2 (3-door version) or 122 g/km CO2 (5-door model).

The VW Golf 7 GTD comes with several distinctive design features. These include tinted LED rear lights, LED license plate illumination and chrome dual tailpipes.



Volkswagen equips the Golf 7 GTD with distinctive 17-inch alloys, 225/45 tires, a rear diffuser, side skirts, a roof spoiler and a sport suspension system.

For the interior of the Golf 7 GTD, Volkswagen is offering a sport steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and foot support, a black roofliner and sport seats for the driver and the front passenger. The GTD version of the VW Golf VII comes with a gear shift grip, a customized instrument cluster and various other exclusive trim parts.

The equipment list of the Golf GTD VII includes progressive steering, ambient lighting, ParkPilot, a winter pack and a "Composition Touch" audio system.

The Volkswagen Golf VII GTD's price starts at 29,350 EUR and you can order yours from the 5th of March. If you like in the UK, you can order your new GTD Golf from April, with the first deliveries taking place in the summer.
