Volkswagen e Golf Leaked

The first images and details of the Volkswagen e-Golf leaked over the web ahead of the model's debut, which is scheduled for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The Volkswagen e-Golf is the electric version of the seventh generation Golf. The e-Golf is powered by an electric motor, which apparently is good for 115 hp and 270 Nm of torque. Even though this has not been confirmed by Volkswagen, we're told that the e-Golf is capable of getting from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 11.8 seconds and to reach a top speed of 84 mph (132 km/h). The VW e-Golf has a maximum range, on a fully charged battery, of up to 175 km. Its battery can be recharged in five hours. As you know, batteries are pretty heavy, so the e-Golf weighs around 250 kg more than the regular Golf VII, which is quite a lot.

The Volkswagen e-Golf is going to offer three operating modes (Normal, Eco and Range). In Eco mode, the power output is going to be lowered, while in Range mode the air conditioning system is going to be deactivated. We'll have more details about the Volkswagen e-Golf as soon as the German carmaker releases them.

As you can see in these images, the e-Golf will have several distinctive styling features, including new front and rear bumpers. It will also lack an exhaust pipe, for obvious reasons.
