Volkswagen is celebrating this year the 35th birthday of the Golf and to mark the occasion, the German car maker will bring several special cars at this year's Worthersee. Among them there will be the Golf GTI 16S, the Golf24 and a the Golf GTI Edition 35. Volkswagen also released this teaser image of what could be a special one-off model that will have its premiere at Worthersee. Judging from the image, Volkswagen might name it the Golf 35 Jahre, which basically means 35 Years in German. However, apart from this image, VW did not release any other information.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 is a limited edition model, built to celebrate one of the most popular cars of all time.
Apart from several new design features, the VW Golf GTI Edition 35 is also the most powerful GTI ever made. It's powered by the standard engine that's been tuned to develop 235 hp, which is 25 hp more than the regular version.
Thanks to the extra power, Volkswagen’s Golf GTI Edition 35 is able to reach a top speed of 247 km/h and requires 6.6 seconds for the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration. VW prices the Golf GTI Edition 35 from 30,425 EUR.
