Opel has revealed today the full details of their new people carrier, the Zafira Tourer concept, which will have its world debut at the Geneva auto show next week. Although we're not big fans of MPVs, we have to admit, the new Zafira Tourer looks quite good, inside and out. Of course, the production version will lose many of the styling details seen on the concept, but we bet those nasty looking headlights will grow up to sit at an airport exit someday.
Opel calls the new Zafira Tourer concept a monocab trendsetter. Maybe it will be. What we're quite intrigued at this point, is why did they release an image with it parked in someone's living room. Check out the image gallery to see what we're talking about.
The official press release announcing the Opel Zafira Tourer concept is full of the usual corporate blabber, so we won't bother posting it here. Instead, we'll give you just the facts released so far.
GM says it has developed the new Opel Zafira Tourer concept so that their new MPV will offer the best it can for both, business trips and long journeys. some of its styling details include a panorama windshield, a glass roof, and various LEDs to make it look cooler.
For the interior of the Zafira Tourer they used plastic, of course. But not just any plastic. It has tiny metallic particles that are supposed to reflect light and give a cozy, warm light. We bet those will make it into production.
The Opel Zafira Tourer pioneers the new seven-seat Flex7 seating concept, that features a foldable third row of seats and in general a more flexible interior.
Tech-wise, the Opel Zafira Tourer has received LED daytime running lights, which are now mandatory in the EU, and bi-Xenon AFL and fog
lamps. The Zafira Tourer concept will be displayed in Geneva with a 1.4-liter turbo engine, equipped with Start / Stop, but expect the production version to offer a wider range of powertrains.
