Porsche launched today yet another model from its Black special edition series - the Cayman S. The Porsche Cayman S Black Edition comes with an increased power output, improved performance, and unique styling cues. The Cayman S Black is powered by the 3.4 liter six-cylinder boxer engine that's been tuned to output 10 hp (7 kW) more than Porsche's standard version. This means that the Cayman S Black develops 330 hp (243 kW) at 7,400 rpm and 370 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm.
With the extra horsepowers, Porsche's Black version of the Cayman S is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.1 seconds, which is one tenth of a second faster that the standard model. If you buy the PDK equipped version of the Cayman S Black, the 0 to 62 mph sprint time drops to 5.0 seconds.
If these numbers are still not what you're looking for, the Porsche Cayman S Black can be equipped with the Sport Chrono package, that adds a Launch Control function. This system enables the Cayman S Black to rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Porsche says the top speed of the Cayman S Black is 279 km/h (173 mph) with the manual transmission and 277 km/h (172 mph) with the PDK (double-clutch transmission).
The equipment list of the Porsche Cayman S Black includes 19 inch dark rims, Bi-Xenon headlights
with dynamic cornering lights and LED daytime running lights, leather seats, climate control and the manufacturer's Communication Management (PCM) system.
Porsche prices the Cayman S Black from 67,807 Euro in and says it will put it on sale from July 2011.
The Cayman Black is currently the third model of the series, that started with the Porsche 911 Black and continued with the Porsche Boxster S Black. The German sports car maker might surprise us in the near future with a few mode of these special editions. The Panamera and the Cayenne could be the next one in line for the dark treatment.
