Porsche 718 Boxster And Cayman Announced

 »  »  »

Porsche announced today two new models, the 718 Boxster and the 718 Cayman. The Porsche 718 Boxster and the Porsche 718 Cayman are going to be introduced sometime next year. Both of them are going to have turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engines and, as you're probably expecting, the roadster is going to be a bit more expensive than the coupe. Unfortunately, Porsche did not disclose any other details or specifications regarding the 718 versions of the Cayman and the Boxster.

Porsche first used the '718' designation back in 1957. That sport scar enjoyed quite a success in the various races it entered that year. In case you're thinking a 4-cylinder engine is a bit too small for a Porsche, think again.

The 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car is also powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This car managed to take the first and second place in the 24 hours of Le Mans and to win the manufacturer's and driver's championship titles in the WEC World Endurance Championship.

We'll have more details about the Porsche 718 Boxster and the Porsche 718 Cayman as soon as they are available.
