Updated details of the future 2012 Porsche Boxster have surfaced the web as the next generation model was caught recently on camera, during winter testing. The 2012 Porsche Boxster is expected to be sold with a choice between a 2.9-liter flat 6-cylinder engine developing 255 hp or the 3.4-liter flat 6-cylinder engine with direct injection developing more than 300 hp. Early rumors also say that the future 2012 Porsche Boxster could get a more economic 3-cylinder engine, in order to get CO2 emissions under the 190 g/km mark.

The 2012 Porsche Boxster will be sold with either a 6-speed manual transmission or the carmaker’s new PDK, double-clutch gearbox.

As you probably expect, in terms of design, the future 2012 Porsche Boxster will be pretty much similar to the current version, with only various changes. The 2012 Porsche Boxster will get LED rear lights, a re-designed boot lid and probably a new rear bumper. The central exhaust will also be carried on to the future 2012 Porsche Boxster.
