Renault F1 Team announced today that it has entered a partnership with the Russian carmaker Lada for the 2010 Formula 1 Season. This means we'll see Lada branding on the Renault R30 F1 race car this season. Lada's name will be placed on the chassis of the Renault R30 F1 race car. The same Renault R30 F1 Lada branding will also appear on the uniform of 25-year-old Vitaly Petrov. He will make history this year as the first Russian F1 driver.
The agreement between Renault and Lada was signed on Monday, March 1, in Moscow, where Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin also gave his public endorsement to the partnership.
“We are proud to announce this new agreement,
which marks another important step for the Renault F1 Team and Formula 1 in Russia,” commented Renault F1 Team Chairman Gerard Lopez.
“Through Mangrove Capital we have been actively investing in Russia over the last years. We
know the country well, we have a high degree of appreciation for it and, as such, it is an honor for
our F1 team to spearhead Russia’s entry into the sport and to carry the Lada brand at the highest
level of world motorsport. We look forward to an exciting and successful season together.”
