Skoda released today the first images and details of its first 200 mph car - an Octavia vRS with which they plan to race during the 2011 Bonneville Speed Week in August (13-20). To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the vRS logo, Skoda UK in collaboration with REVO Technik modified an Octavia vRS sedan in order to brake the 200 mph barrier. The attempt will take place on the Bonneville Salt Flats - a place where many speed records have been broken over the years.
The Skoda Octavia vRS Bonneville is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine that has received a new Garret turbocharger developing 26-28 PSI of boost pressure. Skoda plans to run this Octavia vRS on high-octane race fuel. The via vRS Bonneville develops between 550 hp and
600 hp and 450 Nm of torque between 6,000 rpm and 7,700 rpm. At this point, Skoda does not know the 0-62 mph acceleration time of this mad Octavia, but they hope its top speed is at least 200 mph (322 km/h).
