Skoda revealed this week the estate version of the Rapid, which is called the Spaceback. The Skoda Rapid Spaceback is going to have its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show this fall, and it is scheduled to go on sale this October. Skoda is going to announce the price of the Rapid Station Wagon at a later date. The Rapid Spaceback has a 2,602-mm long wheelbase, and it promises to offer one of the most spacious interiors in its segment. What's interesting is that the Station Wagon version of the Rapide is actually 18-mm shorter than the sedan. Even so, the Estate Rapid offers 64 mm of rear legroom and 980 mm of headroom. Skoda says that the Spaceback Rapide has 415 liters of luggage space with the rear seats up and 1,380 liter when the rear bench is folded.

Skoda is going to sell the Rapid Spaceback with either a 1.6 TDI diesel engine developing 66 kW, as well as other petrol and diesel powertrains with outputs ranging from 55 kW to 90 kW. The Skoda Rapid Estate GreenLine promises to offer a fuel economy of 3.8 l per 100 km with CO2 emissions of just 99 g/km.

Skoda equips the Rapid Wagon with a panoramic glass roof (optional and tinted), a black rear spoiler, a rear diffuser, and a distinctive front grille.

Skoda designed the Rapid Spaceback with an optional double cargo floor in the trunk, an ice scraper in the fuel filler flap, as well as various storing spaces.

In terms of safety equipment, the Rapid Estate comes with various airbags, height-adjustable 3-point safety belts, ABS and ESC, xenon headlights, tire pressure control, fog-lights with corner function and a hill-hold control system.
