During this week end's race at Pau as part of the 2009 WTCC season, driver Franz Engstler managed to hit the Safety Car while racing it's BMW. Unfortunately, the forth round of the WTCC season started with a number of crashes and technical failures which sent the safety car on the course. Franz Engstler had to abandon the race after crashing due to the damages sustained by his BMW.
