Shelby American is going to introduce a 1,100 hp version of the Mustang at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. Called simply the Shelby 1000, the new model is based on the 2012 Ford Shelby GT500, which has received numerous modifications. The Shelby 1000 will be offered in two versions: a street legal model and a track-only version (the S/C). The road legal version of the model has an output of 950 hp, while the Shelby 1000 S/C has a Veyron-smashing 1,100 hp. The car is still powered by the 5.4 liter V8 block, but the engine's rods, crank and pistons have all been replaced. The Shelby 1000 comes with a performance fuel system, a Super Twin Clutch and flywheel kit, and an aluminum driveshaft.

So much power needs improved handling too. The Shelby 1000 is equipped with Wilwood brakes featuring 6-piston calipers in front and 4-piston ones in the rear. The car comes with an Eibach R5 suspension system, a Borla 3" catback exhaust system, and a performance cooling kit. There performance upgrades list of the Shelby 1000 goes on, but it's just to long to mention here.

In terms of design, the Shelby 1000 features a customized rear end, various carbon fiber accents, a fiber glass hood, and massive 20-inch alloys. The interior of the Shelby 1000 also shows various upgrades, including a MGW short throw shifter, and an A-pillar gauge pod.

All this fun comes at a price. The Shelby 1000 will cost you $149,995 USD, while the racing version (the S/C) will set you back $154,995 USD.
