The convertible version of the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 had its world debut today at the Chicago Auto Show in celebration of the SVT's (Special Vehicle Team) 20th anniversary. Just as the coupe, the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible hides under its hood one of the world's most powerful V8 engine. It's a 5.8-liter supercharged unit, which develops 650 hp and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. Apart from the high-output engine, the 2013 Shelby GT500 convertible features other high-performance parts too. These include a set of Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers and a Brembo brake system. Both of them are aimed at improving the handling of the 2013 GT500 Convertible, as well as increasing its safety and cornering speeds.

The new dampers of the 2013 Shelby GT500 convertible offer two settings: Normal and Sport. The Normal mode offers a comfortable ride, which is useful for city driving, while the Sport mode is more appropriate for track duty.

The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible price list will be announced at a later date. Watch the updated version of the model on video lower down this page.
