Over the last weekend, the first details regarding the second generation 2011 Mercedes CLS engines have surfaced the web. According to the new rumor, the 2011 Mercedes CLS will be offered with diesel and hybrid powertrains too. Expect to see the 2011 Mercedes CLS 250 CDI in showrooms, powered by a diesel twin-turbo 4-cylinder engine developing 204 hp. The 2011 Mercedes CLS 400 Hybrid will also be a part of the line-up, but there are no further details available at this point about this version of the four-door coupe.

An interesting fact is that the 2011 Mercedes CLS four-door coupe will also be offered as a station wagon and will be based on the recent Shooting Brake concept.

The petrol range of the model will keep basically the same powerplants as the curre4nt generation model. The 2011 Mercedes CLS range will include the 350 CGI powered by the 3.5 V6 with 306 hp and the 550 CGI powered by the 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8 engine developing 435 hp. The 2011 Mercedes CLS will also offer the choice of a 3.0 CDI in the 350 CDI developing 252 hp. The top of the range 2011 Mercedes CLS AMG will have the company's new 5.5-liter V8 twin turbo engine developing 571 hp. The new generation of the model will also offer the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system and Start/Stop technology.
